The Why
Studio Mariposa is a botanical design company founded in 2021 by Zen Astrud, of Filipino and Trinidadian descent. We’re currently based in Connecticut creating elevated and experiential floristry for events, weddings, and more.
‘Mariposa’, meaning butterfly, is the perfect symbol to describe our evolving approach to the timeless language of flowers and plants. We have a deep passion for exploring the diverse range of plant life both locally and across the globe. As shown in Our Style, we have such an affection for the the unusual and sometimes wild. We’re always keeping an eye out for new and fresh materials that stand out from the regular and monotonous while somehow still paying homage to the classics like Sunflowers and Dahlias. This privilege is made possible by our extensive network of industry partners like our co-founded farm/arts hub, Ceiba Arbor, as well as various growers and distributors in Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island and beyond. Their support is what allows these unique materials to become a part of our mission.
Our true intention is that each experience we create, tells a story of metamorphosis—designed to nurture moments of joy, vulnerability, and, ultimately, transformation.
